LOW SELF-ESTEEM

Hello peeps,

I have been away from my blog for a while now and that has affected the number of visits to this site. I thought about what could have that strong impact to keep me away from something I love doing… Writing of course. So it brought me to this topic low self-esteem .

Why do I want to talk about this very sensitive but neglected topic… That’s because alot of people experience it but seem not to be noticed and they don’t do anything about it, till it hurts them badly.

Some weeks ago I talked about self-worth, and mentioned self-esteem. Though they are intertwined but do not mean the same.

Self-esteem describes how you think and feel about yourself, which changes based on mood, circumstance, performance, or the approval of others. Self-worth is a more global and stable form of self-esteem that comes from knowing and believing in your worth as a person.

Self-esteem involves your thoughts and feelings about yourself and your level of confidence, and so it isn’t stable or consistent. It depends heavily on the outer world of people, tasks, and external information used to compare, judge, and evaluate yourself. On the contrary, self-worth is a broader, more stable form of self-esteem that is less influenced by outside or inside factors.

I have got alot of things going well for me, but I felt like classifying my feelings as Low Self-esteem not low Self-Worth. That’s possible, right? Yes, it is.

After I describe these feelings, you will know why I said that.

With Self-worth, I believe that I am loveable and valuable regardless of how I evaluate my traits (Self-esteem). In this way, when my self-esteem hit rock bottom, and I did less of the things I enjoyed, yet I still held onto the notion that I have innate worth. This is important.

After a while, I realized that, when you don’t feel good about yourself, it doesn’t mean, of course, that you are no longer valuable. So you need a form of positive self-perception that acts as a crutch to keep you stable when your self-esteem fluctuates (as it inevitably does for everyone).

Do you ever feel down for no reason?

It’s not just you alone. We all get sad sometimes because we’re human, but long-term sadness is not good for you. It affects you physically which is why many people wonder why their heart hurts.

People struggle with so many different aspects of this life. There are many causes for our sorrow, but God offers us hope. The Bible says, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

The most important things you can do is to begin to see yourself the way God sees you. You won’t be the same once you realize God’s love is focused on you. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1).

I came in contact with this wisdom of my Worth in Christ, and I have been able to overcome Low Self-esteem. I pray you do too. Talk to a Friend

So peeps, I am glad to be back….. See you in my next series. Remember to always talk to someone, you never know who has your answers through their life’s experience.
