Roman Aurora, in Greco-Roman mythology, the personification of the dawn. There are alot of mythical and legendary ideology of this phenomenal experience. No wonder the aurora borealis have influenced folklore and stories through the ages. Imagine gazing up at green, red and purple lights flickering across the sky. Today we know the science behind the lights, but back then, stories painted them as everything from bridges to the afterlife and football players to dangerous monsters and warning signs.

In the early 17th century, the astronomer and scientist Galileo Galilei named this phenomenon Aurora Borealis explaining that the particles interact with gases in our atmosphere resulting in beautiful displays of light in the sky. In short, Galilei thought that an aurora was caused by the sunlight reflected from the atmosphere.

The aurora borealis – otherwise known as the northern lights – is a vivid demonstration of the Earth’s magnetic field interacting with charged particles from the sun. It’s also beautiful, and worth braving a cold night out when visiting the high northern (or southern) latitudes.

The northern lights is also mentioned in the Bible, in the book of Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:4) in the Old Testament. In the 2,600 years old description it says:” I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north–an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.”

Starting your day with the thought of Aurora should give a new energy and new meaning to your every new day… Seeing dawn as a new dawn. It’s a sign of optimism and bravery.
